Slim pickings

Week 15; 15 April 2017 - Green Island, Mutla'a Ranch and JPR

I decided to go north via Green Island which is on the coast and south of Kuwait City. The wind was quite brisk today and just after the entrance gate, I found this European Bee-eater keeping a low profile

A single Bunting foraging on the lawn was carefully checked, but was an Ortolan

Common Black-headed Gulls were flying around the inland bay of this artificial island

I then headed north to Mutla'a Ranch and didn't find much at all, other than a Brown Playboy

And later a colourful Crimson-speckled Flunkey

So, I cut my losses and headed back south to Jahra Pools where not much more was happening. I watched this Western Yellow Wagtail beat the crap out of this large Dragonfly before eventually devouring it

On the big pool there were a few Duck species and only this Garganey was close enough for an image, but not for long. Ducks are generally quite skittish as shooters still pursue them from outside the reserve
